I’ve struggled with my weight my entire adult life. As a youth, I was extremely active and athletic. Shortly after injuring my knee playing soccer (ending my active sports lifestyle), I got married and then got pregnant, then slowly started packing on the pounds.
Fast forward 30 years. I am now a grandmother and because of my weight found I was having difficulties getting down on their level to play, plus I was tired of being tired. I set my mind that I wanted to do something about it. I checked into different programs…I had done Weight Watchers, Medifast, Beach Body, and other diets that just never worked for me. Yes, I’d lose weight but they really never taught me how to eat and more importantly how to maintain my new weight.
I noticed that my friend Rachel and her husband Kurt had lost weight, so I asked her what they were doing. Rachel invited me to meet with Dr. Paul Lund to learn about the Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method. I signed up right then and there. On my first official visit, Dr. Paul took my weight, measurements and did a scan that measures body fat percentage, lean percentage, hydration, etc. I was horrified to learn I fell into the morbidly obese category. Dr. Paul is great. He is encouraging, he is supportive, he is funny, he is a success story. I like the fact that I can meet with him face-to-face to ask him questions, discuss progress, successes and challenges. Dr. Paul is also very consistent with responding to in between visit text messages. I LOVE the accountability of someone checking my progress, and he celebrates my successes with me. You can tell he cares about you and he wants to help you get healthy and thrive.
I’ve personally changed my goal from weight (although I still track that) to percent of body fat. I want to be at a healthy place for my height, weight and age. This is not BMI which is based on just weight and height – this is a monitored personal measurement of body fat percentage; HUGE difference.
On the program I’ve learned to enjoy foods I never even knew existed. I’ve learned new recipes and a new and healthier way of preparing foods. I can still eat the foods I enjoy, but with a healthier spin on them. Even my family enjoys these new meals. They will forever be on the menu in our home. I’ve even brought them to potlucks and people ask me for the recipe not knowing it is a completely healthy meal – they just enjoyed the taste and flavor, as do I.
This new lifestyle… I believe I can maintain for the remainder of my years. I’m looking forward to being active, hiking, camping, and enjoying running around with my grandchildren for many years.

Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip toe if you must, but take the step.

Trying to recover from multiple surgeries and a slow and steady weight gain, I knew I needed to lose weight to get better. My research led me to Dr. Paul. The Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method has been a life changer for Ron and I. We spent years of not being able to lose weight, even though we were eating healthy at least 85 percent of the time, didn’t eat out much and didn’t eat processed foods. Looking at Facebook one day I saw an old friend had lost a lot of weight. She added Paul’s email address and my first thought was, “Is that the same Paul I knew and loved?” (Although I hadn’t seen him for several years-I called and found out that it was.) I had tried every diet ever published and then some and I trusted Paul to not try to “sell” me, so I made my appointment. I started the very next week and couldn’t believe how quickly I began losing. Every week Paul weighed and measured me and listened to me whine.
I always had something to whine about. For instance, why did I have to limit the cookie dough bars to one!!!? Who can do that? He answered every text I sent when I had a question, which was often at 10:00pm. I can now fit in a size six. I think I was able to do that for a few weeks about 40 years ago so I’m ecstatic. I expressed my fears-often of putting the weight back on. His response was “we will keep it off together.”
